KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL AND VISITORS' CENTER
Any conflict / interaction / transformation moment is a condition of being in-between two stable sides and two stable periods by its nature. A condition of being in-between bears new potentials with its autonomous, different, volatile and ephemeral existence while sustaining the traces of two entities.
Korean War Memorial and Visitors' Center is spatially and temporally in-between in terms of its function and its theme.
In this context, the design problem emerges as the production of a functionally, spatially, and temporally in-between space. Therefore, the condition of being in-between is explored with its spatial reflections through site decisions and landscape design, spatial organization and exhibition design, and material use and construction techniques.
